Demand Path Optimization

The video ad serving process involves many participants, complicated players, and various source= chains. HIRO believes that transparency is a key success factor for publishers and media owners.

How does it work?

Our Demand Path product maps your entire demand in a detailed, user-friendly diagram. These diagrams help publishers understand the video ecosystem, avoiding unnecessary middlemen and optimizing bidding volumes.  This unique solution allows our partners to view the actual advertisements served by different demand sources.

The path diagram is based on data collected by monitoring DOM and network activity on the client side in real time.

Our unique algorithm associates the collected data from various demand partners, then distinguishes demand sources from monitoring companies like Moat, Double Verify, White Ops, after which the diagram is built accordingly.

 

The diagram generation algorithm involves deep business intelligence maintained by HIRO’s analysts.

Real-time Ad Filtering

HIRO's programmatic Ad Filtering product was built to protect publishers from unwanted ads’ behavior, without having to give up on all the benefits of programmatic advertising.

How does it work?

The purpose of this product is to detect changes made by ads that cause unwanted issues, ranging from malicious ads to poor user-experience (auto-sound, expanding ads, pop-ups etc.), and termination of these behaviors.

This feature is based on two types of defenses: “passive defense” uses the HTML5 MutationObserver API and “active defense” that adds a layer of virtual DOM and prevents unwanted changes. Both levels operate based on approved elements’ white lists, that can be easily managed and customized by the publisher.

This unique technology is patent pending.

Investigation

Alongside with client-side ad filtering, our platform allows users to investigate problematic demand sources that cause bad ad behavior, such as latency, malicious ads, user experience issues (workload, sound, pop-ups, sticky ads and expending ads).

How does it work?

When a violation is detected, all relevant data is collected and categorized by violation types. Our user-friendly interface allows publishers to focus on specific issues and pinpoint their source eitheron a demand partner or on the demand tag level.

A diagram is charted to represent the distribution of the issue in the publisher’s traffic, displaying its full demand path.

Viewability control

HIRO’s Protection Platform also enables publishers to control KPI requirements for high viewability advertising, for selected demand partners.

How does it work?

Our technology measures viewability in real time at the pre-bid stage, according to IAB viewability standards. If the spot is detected as non-viewable, a constraint will be triggered preventing the ad from playing (these preferences can be customized for each tag by our clients). Furthermore, we apply predictive RTB for optimizing viewability.
